Broughton Village Store

The village store is a community-owned enterprise that was purchased in 2019 with help from the Scottish Land Fund and by raising funds through a community share offer. The shop was of great support to the village during periods of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues to run a number of community welfare initiatives for residents of Upper Tweed, including free kids lunch boxes and weekly top-ups

Broughtonknowe Woods

The 135 acres of woodland were planted in the late 1980s with a mixture of native hardwoods and commercial softwoods, with the intention of providing a woodland with commercial potential softened by amenity and the beauty of native species. Since 2001 Christopher Lambton and Julie Morrice have owned the woodland. with the encouragement of the owners. With the encouragement of the owners, Friends of Broughtonknowe Woodland was set up in 2021 to bring together like-minded people with the aim of improving the woodland amenity and increasing its biodiversity.

Defibrillators

We have two defibrillators for public use, one at Scott Motors

and another at Rachan Mill Hall.

If you come across a casualty who has stopped breathing FIRST DIAL 999 and inform the operator you are near a defibrillator. Proceed with regular chest compressions immediately (please note that mouth to mouth is currently NOT advised). Every second counts.

The defibrillators are simple to use and instruct you throughout.   Don’t be afraid to access the machine – you can NOT do harm and you may save a life.
